Side Quest Kit Install Guide

With just 4 pieces, this kit is straightforward yet requires careful preparation and setup to ensure a flawless install. Follow these steps for a smooth and professional-looking application.

 

 

Tools Needed

  • Scissors

  • Tape Measure

  • Masking Tape

  • Felt-tip Squeegee

  • Microfiber Cloth

  • Isopropyl Alcohol (70% or higher)

 

 

Step 1: Surface Preparation

  • Clean all surfaces thoroughly with a microfiber cloth and isopropyl alcohol.

  • Pay special attention to door seams, edges, and around handles to remove dirt, grease, or residue.

  • Ensure the surface temperature is between 50°F and 80°F for proper adhesion.

 

 

Step 2: Plan Your Layout

  1. Lay out all 4 pieces of the kit on the corresponding panels of your rig without removing the backing paper.

  2. Use painter’s tape to temporarily secure each piece in place.

  3. Step back to inspect alignment, ensuring all pieces are properly positioned around door handles, hinges, and seams.

 

 

Step 3: Apply the First Panel

  • Begin with the front-most door panel.

  • Use the dry hinge method for a secure application:

    1. Tape a vertical hinge down the center of the panel to hold it in place.

    2. Lift one side of the panel and peel back the backing paper halfway, cutting it off carefully.

    3. Using the squeegee, press the vinyl into place from the center hinge outward, applying even pressure to avoid air bubbles.

 

 

Step 4: Continue with the Remaining Panels

  • Repeat the process for the other panels, working one piece at a time:

    • Doors: Align the pieces carefully around the hinges and handles without stretching the vinyl.

    • Rear Panel: Ensure it lines up perfectly with adjacent pieces for a seamless look.

  • Use firm, even strokes with the squeegee to adhere the vinyl securely.

 

 

Step 5: Tackle Air Bubbles and Finalize

  • For any air bubbles, use your thumb in a rolling motion or a felt-tip squeegee to work the air out toward the edges.

  • Inspect edges and seams to ensure the vinyl is fully adhered.

  • Re-squeegee all panels for a polished, professional finish.
